Carbon reduction at source

The country's first nuclear energy steam supply project for industrial purposes, the Lianyungang Tianwan Nuclear Power Steam Supply Project, was put into operation in June 2024. Shenghong Petrochemical became the first company in the industry to receive and utilize nuclear power steam, marking that my country's petrochemical and chemical industry has officially entered the era of "nuclear energy steam supply".
The first enterprise-built photovoltaic power generation project in Xuwei New District of Lianyungang, the rooftop distributed photovoltaic power generation system, was successfully connected to the grid in December 2023, and all the power generated was used in the factory office area.
Shenghong plans to develop offshore wind power and photovoltaic power generation to replace traditional fossil energy and provide stable green power for petrochemical processing and production. Support the construction of a 300,000-tonne/year green methanol project to realize on-site consumption of green electricity and green hydrogen, and create a demonstration green petrochemical industry base.

Process carbon reduction

Shenghong has invested more than 20 billion in environmental protection. Its energy consumption and emissions are both better than national standards and at the leading level in the industry. All major industrial sectors have achieved full coverage of national-level "green factories".

Energy saving and consumption reduction: The annual PTA energy efficiency leader in the industry; the heat pump system of the ethylene unit saves 15% of energy consumption and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 2 million tonnes/year

Energy Saving and Emission Reduction: The new flare gas holder recycles more than 60 million Nm3 of fuel gas every year

Energy cycle: using advanced steam, waste heat cascade utilization, by-product fuel utilization technology and heat energy recovery system to significantly reduce energy consumption by more than 20%

Digital management and control: Comprehensive emission reduction through the industrial Internet, energy consumption such as water and electricity dropped by 15.4%

Terminal carbon

Shenghong completed and put into operation a 100,000 tonnes/year carbon dioxide-to-methanol project, which indirectly reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 550,000 tonnes/year, equivalent to 37,000 hectares of forest area.

Shenghong has built a 250,000 tonnes/year carbon dioxide recovery and purification project, which can produce 220,000 tonnes/year food-grade liquid carbon dioxide and 30,000 tonnes/year food-grade dry ice, achieving a carbon dioxide emission reduction of approximately 210,000 tonnes/year.

Shenghong has built the industry's first green industrial chain of "carbon dioxide capture and utilization - green methanol - new energy materials (photovoltaic grade EVA resin, battery grade EC/DMC)".

Shenghong built the world's first low-carbon recycling green industrial chain of "carbon dioxide capture and utilization - green ethylene glycol - functional polyester fiber" and won the International Textile Federation's Sustainability and Innovation Award.

?The world's first complete recycled fiber production line

Shenghong has built the world's first complete regenerated fiber production line to recycle waste plastic bottles and convert them into regenerated fibers. At present, Shenghong's recycled fiber production capacity is 600,000 tonnes/year, and it can recycle nearly 36 billion waste plastic bottles throughout the year, reducing carbon emissions by nearly 1.3 million tonnes.
