On December 28, Shenghong Refining and Chemical was fully put into production as part of Shenghong's high-end new materials project. The signing ceremony of the Global Advanced Materials Research Institute was grandly held in Xuwei New District, Lianyungang, which marked the completion of the whole process for the largest single-process refining and chemical integration project in China, and the successful full commissioning of production.

At the ceremony, Shenghong Petrochemical Industry Group and Xuwei New District Management Committee signed a contract for Shenghong's high-end new materials project and the Global Advanced Materials Research Institute, as well as strategic cooperation agreements with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Honeywell, respectively.

A high-standard planning to build the world's leading refining and chemical integration project

The total investment of Shenghong's refining and chemical integration project is about 67.7 billion yuan, with an annual processing capacity of 16 million tonnes of crude oil. It is the core raw material platform for Shenghong to create a new "1+N" pattern of diversified industrial chains such as new energy, new materials, electronic chemistry and green environmental protection. It is also a key core project to integrate the whole industrial chain and build a world-class new energy and new materials industry cluster.

At the beginning of the project planning, Shenghong was committed to creating a world-class refining and chemical project with global competitiveness. It has always focused on the international frontier and with a high-standard layout. Through the combination process of "reforming + hydrogenation + coking + ethylene", it can flexibly switch the oil type, oil and chemical ratio. In addition, the project also has a number of firsts in China, such as the largest diameter tower, the heaviest single fixed bed reactor, the largest-scale normal pressure reduction distillation device, and cracking furnace, etc., with the leading installation scale and advanced process technology, which has established the comprehensive operating cost advantage of the project.

A big platform takes the lead and innovates to build a new energy and new materials industry cluster

The comprehensive commissioning of the refining and chemical integration project marks that Shenghong has laid a solid foundation in terms of scientific and technological research and development strength, production capacity scale, industrial chain coordination, cutting-edge layout, etc. in the fields of new energy and new materials, and has formed the "iron triangle" and value chain for cutting-edge technology, raw material guarantee, and production application.

In order to give full play to the role of "strong basic raw material guarantee" of the refining and chemical platform, Shenghong will make full use of its rich "chemical raw material library" for refining and chemical integration projects, and "extending chain" to lay out high-end olefin industry chain projects, produce POE new photovoltaic membrane materials, α-olefins, butyl alcohol, acrylic and ester, bisphenol A and other shortage high-end chemical new materials and high-end chemicals. It shall thus further drive the transformation and upgrade of the industrial chain, help the group integrate the core raw material platform + new energy and new materials in to its "1+N" whole industry chain layout, innovating and building a new differentiated development model for "oil, coal and gas" as well as the "aromatic" and "olene" double-chain.

At the same time, in order to strengthen scientific and technological innovation and the resilience of the industrial supply chain, Shenghong will take the construction of the Global Advanced Materials Research Institute as an important node. It will build a world-class R&D center, carry out cutting-edge technology exploration in the fields of new energy and new materials, core technology and transformation of innovative achievements, and build a strong innovation and empowerment platform for the sustainable and rapid development of enterprises.

Sustainable development and building a green low-carbon recycling system

From project layout to full production, Shenghong Refining and Chemical adheres to the concept of "environmental protection first and green development" throughout, and strives to build an ecological, low-carbon and circular green integrated production system. The project's high-standard investment in safety and environmental protection has reached 11 billion yuan, accounting for 16% of the total investment. The amount and proportion of investment in environmental protection are at the leading level in the industry; environmental protection process technology, advanced equipment and energy consumption emission indicators are all better than national standards. At the same time, the project has sufficient by-product n-butane, which can be used to produce PBAT degradable plastics, which will help Shenghong's million-tonne green degradable material project construction

On the basis of following the principle of "industrial chain extension, complementary industrial advantages, and the independent development of proprietary advantages", Shenghong also actively explores new technologies for the use of carbon dioxide and high-end chemicals for the direct production of crude oil and raw coal; explores the source and application transformation from traditional energy to solar energy, hydrogen energy, nuclear energy, etc.; and is committed to the establishment of clean production methods and systems in the whole chain, forming a green discourse to lead the future, and creating a model path of "low carbon to zero carbon".
