On September 10, the 2024 International Textile Manufacturers Federation Annual Meeting and International Clothing Alliance Fashion Conference was held in Uzbekistan. "Carbon Cycle: From Carbon Dioxide to Polyester Fiber" declared by Jiangsu Guowang High-tech Fiber Co., Ltd., Beijing Clothing College, Jiangsu Sierbang Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Jiangsu New Horizon Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center Co., Ltd., Anta Sports Goods Co., Ltd. and other entities won the "International Textile Federation Sustainability and Innovation Award", as the only project in China to win this award in 2024.
Shenghong Holding Group integrates the research and development and production capabilities of its subsidiaries Guowang High-tech and Sierbang Petrochemical to build the world's first "carbon dioxide capture and utilization - green ethylene glycol - functional polyester fiber" low-carbon recycling green industry chain (carbon capture fiber brand name:Reocoer). This technology captures carbon dioxide emitted from industrial production that is further chemically converted into fiber-grade ethylene glycol through chemical reaction; and develops direct "esterification-condensation" and melt composite direct spinning processes to prepare a variety of functional polyester fiber products such as elastic, ultrafine and anti-ultraviolet, and successfully apply them in the textile and clothing fields to realize the recycling of carbon resources, which plays a leading and exemplary role in sustainable development for the textile industry. It is estimated that carbon dioxide used to make fibers reduces carbon emissions by 28.4% compared with native fibers.
It is reported that Shenghong will expand the production capacity of Reocoer carbon capture fiber in stages, while the first phase of the construction has completed the annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes of carbon recycling polyester fiber. The whole process of Reocoer carbon capture fiber is traceable, and the quality is consistent with the original fiber. POY, DTY, FDY and other specifications can be produced, which is suitable for all knitted and woven fabrics.
The International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), referred to as the International Textile Federation, was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Its members come from industry organizations from major countries and regions around the world and globally-renowned textile and clothing manufacturing enterprises. The International Textile Federation Award is selected once a year and is divided into two; the "Sustainability and Innovation Award" and the "International Cooperation Award". Among them, the "Sustainability and Innovation Award" is used to recognize sustainable and innovative achievements in the textile industry and is awarded to companies/organizations or individuals who have significantly improved the textile manufacturing industry in the comprehensive field of innovation and sustainable development.
