Recently, the first batch of products out of the 5,000-tonne/year aramid fiber project by Jiangsu Shengbang New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Shenghong Holding Group, was qualified to go off the line to successfully achieve mass production. Shenghong Aramid Production Technology has successfully overcome key technical problems such in solvent recovery and the polymerization process, and achieved a major breakthrough in the key performance for domestic aramid.
Aramid is a high-performance chemical synthetic fiber. Its strength is 5 to 6 times that of steel wire, and its weight is only about 1/5 of that of steel wire. The product is mainly used in aerospace, high-speed trains, hydropower and the nuclear industry, as well as other fields.
The production technology of aramid fibers, especially for some high-performance products, has long been monopolized by foreign companies. The Shenghong Holding Group, through its independent research and development, as well as its technological reserves at the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center (which it spearheaded), and by establishing an integrated production-education-research cooperation platform with domestic universities and research institutions, has solved the bottleneck technology in aramid fiber production. The para-aramid fibers produced in this mass production process have reached leading domestic levels in core indicators such as fiber diameter and strength.
In April 2022, the Shenghong Holding Group established a wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangsu Shengbang New Materials Co., Ltd. to plan and build an aramid industrial park in Lingang Industrial Zone, Guanyun County, Lianyungang City, and strive to build a world-class aramid new material base integrating the research and development, production and sales of aramid raw materials, aramid fibers and aramid products.
With the mass production of 60,000 tonnes/year of phenyldiamine (phase I) raw materials and 5,000 tonnes/year of contarial aramid, the Shenghong Holding Group will gradually build a strategic emerging industrial chain cluster with the most complete domestic aramid industry chain, the richest filament varieties and the most complete downstream applications.
In the future, Shenghong Holding Group will continue to cultivate the field of high-performance fibers and contribute more to promoting the development of China's new materials industry and realizing the localization of high-end materials.
