Representatives of United Nations agencies, international organizations, industry-leading enterprises and academic institutions attended the meeting and discussed the theme. Mei Feng, chairman of the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center, attended the meeting on behalf of the Shenghong Holding Group and made a speech to introduce Shenghong's innovative practices in green development.

Mei Feng introduced that Shenghong has always paid attention to environmental protection and taken a series of green actions. In 2018, Shenghong built the world's first production line from mineral water bottles to polyester fiber, and every eight mineral water bottles can be made into a T-shirt. Each ton of recycled fiber can save six tonnes of oil and reduce two tonnes of carbon emissions. Shenghong Recycled Fiber has an annual production capacity of 600,000 tonnes, and tine has become the designated procurement product for more than 30 international brands.

Mei Feng introduced that Shenghong also uses carbon dioxide as the main raw material to produce photovoltaic film materials, lithium battery electrolyte materials and polyester fibers. In 2024, Shenghong will build and put into production the world's first green industrial chain of carbon dioxide polyester fiber. Each ton of carbon capture fiber can consume 364 kilograms of carbon dioxide.

Mei Feng said that Shenghong's green practice cannot be separated from China's complete industrial system and the support of global consumers. Hopes are that all parties can work together to build more green industrial chains and make the earth cleaner and more beautiful.

The meeting was co-hosted by the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
