This morning (May 3), CCTV's special live broadcast programme "Looking at China along the Expressway" took its roadshow to Lianyungang with a simulcast by the CCTV1 general channel and the CCTV13 news channel, focusing on the development of the port industry at the eastern terminus of the Lianhuo Expressway.
In the live broadcast, the Long March 5 launch vehicle, a domestic C919 aircraft, photovoltaic panels and a batch of national heavy weapons all appeared in front of the camera, and behind them was the construction support of the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industrial Base. The live broadcast site introduced the important role of Shenghong Petrochemical acrylonitrile, EVA photovoltaic materials and other products in China's development of strategic emerging industries such as new energy and new materials, as well as their high-end application in aerospace, green low-carbon economy and other fields, showcasing Shenghong's vivid practice of developing port-based industries and building industrial highlands.

Relying on the large transportation pattern of sea, land and water in Lianyungang, Shenghong Green Petrochemical Industrial Base has an obvious radiation effect. The import and export channels are open to the sea and hence direct to the international market. Inwardly, it is based in East China facing 11 provinces and urban areas in the hinterlands of the central and western regions. Such an industrial synergy is unique. Shenghong Petrochemical has built a 300,000-tonne crude oil terminal, six 50,000-tonne liquid chemical terminals, and a storage tank area of more than 5 million cubic meters. The international and domestic transportation pattern is seamlessly docked with the supporting facilities of Shenghong Petrochemical Industrial Base, with significant location advantages.

The national "14th Five-Year Plan" proposes to promote the optimization of the layout and structural adjustment of petrochemical and other raw material industries, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of enterprises in key industries such as chemical industry, and guide and support the scientific and technological innovation of private enterprises. The acrylonitrile that appeared in the live broadcast is also the fist product of Shenghong's Sierbang Petrochemical. As an important raw material for the country's development of the new materials industry, it is mainly used to produce carbon fiber, ABS resin/plastic, nitrile rubber, acrylic, etc. Downstream products are widely used in various fields of the national economy such as aerospace, automobile machinery, electronic equipment, environmental protection industry, medicine and pesticides.
At present, the acrylonitrile production capacity of Sierbang Petrochemical has risen to 520,000 tonnes/year. With the completion of the second phase of the propane industry chain project, the company's overall production scale for acrylonitrile will attain 1.04 million tonnes/year, becoming an important base for global acrylonitrile production.
